Welcome

..... to the web site of Tread tthe Boards Theatre Group. We have been treading the boards with great success in and around Milton Keynes for 26 years, and move into 2012 with great plans for the future. Our rehearsal base is in Woburn Sands and our main production venue is the superb Chrysalis Theatre, in Willen. We draw our membership from across Milton Keynes and beyond.

Why not join us?

We like to think that we are probably the friendliest drama group in Milton Keynes. If you fancy Treading the Boards, why not join us? We are always happy to welcome new members. No auditions required, just pop along to the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Street, Woburn Sands any Monday evening (7.45 to 10.00) and see what you think. Full details of membership are on our Membership page.

2011 - An Outstanding 25th Anniversary Year

We finished 2011 on a high with an excellent production of Sleeping Beauty, written by our own Chris Sims. This was really the icing on the cake for a great year celebrating our 25th anniversary.

Having had a very successful production of Shafted! in March and April, we moved on to our big summer show. At the beginning of July we presented "Much Ado About Nothing" by, of course, William Shakespeare. It seems strange that over 25 years we have never got around to putting on a Shakespeare play, but we are corrected this important omission to our repertoire in 2011!

A lot has changed over the past 25 years, personnel (although we do still have two members from 1986 and one frrom 1987!), rehearsal venues, theatres, and our becoming a charity, but two things have remained constant, our committment to putting on good drama to the highest standards that we can, and our determination to keep Tread the Boards an open, accessible, friendly group, offering opportunities to all members and avoiding the cliques that can so often bedevil drama groups.

Productions for 2012

Our Spring production this year will be Alan Ayckbourn's comedy "Improbable Fiction. This will take to the stage at the Chrysalis Theatre on 13th and 14th April. Full details will be on our Next Production page soon.

Almost immediately afterwards we will be presenting "White Lies" by Richard James for the Bedfordshire One-Act Drama Festival. Our Summer show will be announced in the near future.

The venues for these productions will vary, so keep an eye on our Next Production page for the latest information, or you can sign up to our Mailing List (see here for details) to get advance news.

Wanted- Volunteers!!

Have you some skills to share?

Putting on a production requires people and skills. Costumes have to be made, sets built and painted, lighting and sound operated, and we always need bodies backstage and front of house. Our members become adept at turning their hands to all sorts of tasks, but we can always use more hands. We are always looking for volunteer helpers who can help us turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. No need to join TTB, just offer a hand as and when required (although if you decide to join us we will be very pleased!).

To find out more, just send us an email with details of how you think you can assist us, and we will get straight back to you.

Where is the Chrysalis Theatre?

If you have not heard of the Chrysalis Theatre, then you will not be aware of this superb facility in Milton Keynes. Visit their web site at http://www.camphillmk.co.uk/chrysalis/ for information about the theatre and photos of the auditorium and facilities.

The theatre is located on the Camphill Community site at Japonica Lane, Willen Park South, just off Brickhill Street.

Photo Archive

You will not find many photos on the site at present - not because we are shy, but simply that we are busy putting together nearly 25 years of archive material. Watch this space (or more accurately, our Archive page).
