The trials and tribulations of an amateur writing group!

Have you ever tried to write a novel? In Improbable Fiction we meet six would be authors struggling to achieve literary success. They gather at their last meeting before Christmas to review their progress, or lack of it.The mix comprises a would be writer of historical romances and one of children's literature who cannot get started, a crime novelist of considerable output but who cannot get published, a writer of complicated science fiction, a librettist who has lost his musical collaborator, and the goup's chairman, Arnold, an author of instruction manuals.

Arnold's suggestion that pooling their resources into a collaborative effort might get them out of a rut is received with scepticism and the meeting closes. But then ... a clap of thunder and strange things start to happen as the story that might have been starts to revolve around Arnold.

An unusual and very funny play from Alan Ayckbourn.
